Review for Grimm Tidings by Shiloh Walker

Title: Grimm Tidings
Author: Shiloh Walker

Description: Never fear the pain. Fear what lies behind it…

Grimm’s Circle, Book 6

In his mortal life, the only thing Jacob liked better than money was a good brawl—until he stuck his fist into the wrong fight, and a demon sent him spinning into a new life as a Grimm.

Now, a hundred years later, he’s been called to protect someone too much like himself. A woman who could let the chains of her past drag her down unless she learns to let go. A woman who fights like there’s no tomorrow, because she clearly doesn’t want a tomorrow.

Celine thought her second chance at life would be an opportunity to fix some of her worst mistakes, to set things straight. She couldn’t have been more wrong. She’s trapped by the past and her regrets, and nothing—not even her darkly sexy new trainer, Jacob—has a blade sharp enough to cut her loose.

Chains are Jacob's specialty, but his help comes with a price. To her, the cost is her heart. To Jacob…something much more.

Product Warnings
Contains a heroine with enough fight in her to put the 300 to shame. And a hero who knows how to take a punch.

My Thoughts: Celine is a baby Grimm who doesn't care if she lives or dies. Plagued by her guilt and what “could have been”, has made her a fierce fighter, but has also caused plenty of trainers to not want to work with her. On her path of self-destruction, one demon take-down at a time, she gets saddled with Jacob, not that that is a bad thing per se. Jacob is no different from Celine in the respect that he too has chains to the past and has been riding the guilt train for 200 years, but Celine brings out a change in him. A change that makes him feel more and want more too. With a little insight, he helps Celine see what would have been, not to mention he steals a kiss that gets the ball rolling and fires stoked.

I love Shiloh’s “Grimm” Series! It took me forever okay, (until the end of the book), before I figured out who it was based on. I always have fun trying to see if I can figure out who Walker was going for in this series. Celine is fierce and strong, but she is also vulnerable in one aspect. You have to admire her with all her sass. Jacob is one of those quiet, yet deadly (at least toward demons) types. Toward Celine however, he is quiet but also softer, not as hard as he is with everyone else. Love changes people. Walker paints the picture of guilt and overcoming obstacles of the past with finesse. Showing if you open your heart and let go of that baggage, love will win in the end. I really enjoyed Jacob and Celine. They may not have been my favorite of the “Grimm” series, but I adore Walker’s Grimms. Plus, who can get enough of these awesome Grimms, the guardian angels here to protect the innocents of humanity, one demon at a time. I, for one, will be anxious for my next fix into this world of fairy tales and demon hunters.
