Review for A Howl For A Highlander by Terry Spear

Title: A Howl For A Highlander
Author: Terry Spear

Description: A Highland Wolf on a Mission...

Duncan MacNeill is hell-bent on catching the thief who's stolen the clan's fortune and run off to Grand Cayman Island. Duncan has rarely left his homeland and he couldn't care less about an island paradise. He never expected to find a beautiful distraction who would show him just how appealing paradise could be.

Meets a Dangerous Distraction...

Lone wolf and botanist Shelley Campbell headed to the island to study the old growth forests. She didn't count on meeting a handsome Highlander who can't keep his paws off her.

My Thoughts: Duncan is on a mission to get his clans money back from a con-artist who must not have realized that he has stolen from a wolf clan. To top it off, the con-artist is a wolf. Duncan, the youngest of the MacNeill clan, has left his home in Scotland for the Grand Caymans. He can't afford to be distracted as his family is depending on him. What he wasn't expecting was Shelley Campbell, a botanist professor and sassy she-wolf that hits him with instant chemistry after he tracks down her scent straight out of the airport. Once Shelley realizes who he is she gives him a little hell since her family was kicked out of the highlands due to the higher up. Yet she still agrees to his lift and going for a drink later that night. Once she sees her grant money has been embezzled, she also lends him a room with a price of course. Duncan will pay half the costs to stay and together they will partner up to track down the scoundrel who stole their funds.

Spear's delivers another fix to my addiction of her wolves. If you have not checked out any of Spear's wolves you are seriously missing out especially if you are a hardcore shifter girl like me. This is the tenth book in the series and though you get revisits from previous characters, I think it's written well enough to be read as a standalone. These books are just so delightful I would go back and read the rest just to enjoy each delicious read for its own context.

Shelley is sassy, smart and playful. She is loyal to her family but feels an instant sizzling connection to Duncan. She knew her family wouldn't thoroughly enjoy them connecting, even for something innocent as drinks, since they were kicked out of the highlands thanks to their rank. It might not have been “his” family but you know the whole guilty by association thing comes into play.

Duncan.... oh Duncan, I can just hear that sexy Scottish brogue with your smexy self in my head as I was reading. No wonder there was instant passion between him and Shelley. It was burning up the pages under my fingers. Duncan is also fierce when it comes to making sure other males know Shelley is his. One in particular, happens to be the villain they are after.

I loved the sexual tension building up and then explode into such passionate steamy sex. I kinda wish it had been drawn out a wee bit more. That being said, Spear made it up to me by a whole bunch of hotness on my pages filled with tender romance that made me swoon. I am never disappointed reading one of this author's books. I always crave them more and want my next fix faster.
